An analytical exposition text is a text that presents arguments to convince readers that the

writer’s opinion about an issue is correct.

PURPOSE

The purpose of analytical exposition text is to persuade readers that an idea or opinion is

correct and logical.

GENERIC STRUCTURE

• Thesis: The writer introduces the topic and states their opinion.

• Arguments: The writer presents reasons and evidence to support the opinion.

• Reiteration: The writer restates the main idea to strengthen the argument.

LANGUAGE FEATURES

• Simple present tense

• Connectives (firstly, moreover)

• Causal conjunctions (because, therefore)

• Technical terms

EXAMPLE

• Thesis: Eating a nutritious breakfast is essential for everyone, especially students, because

it improves physical health and academic performance.

• Arguments: Breakfast provides the body with much-needed energy after an overnight fast,
